Marcel Krömker
Marcel Krömker is a dynamic double bass player with over 20 years of international touring experience. Known for his deep groove and creative versatility, he has performed across four continents and built a reputation as a compelling voice in jazz and contemporary music. His work spans studio sessions with leading producers to live collaborations with some of the genre’s most respected artists — all driven by a bold, expressive approach to the double bass.
As a performer, composer, and mixing engineer, Marcel is equally at home on stage and in the studio, making him a sought-after figure in both live and recorded music. His broad experience across jazz, contemporary, and improvised music gives him a distinctive musical identity that resonates with audiences and collaborators alike.
Marcel is also dedicated to making jazz accessible to younger audiences. As founder and composer of the children’s jazz ensemble Terz im Viertel, he creates interactive concert experiences that combine storytelling, improvisation, and playful musical exploration. The project introduces children to jazz through participation, imagination, and live performance — encouraging curiosity and creativity from an early age. His educational work has been recognised by the Verband Deutscher Musikschulen, highlighting its artistic and cultural impact.
With Terz im Viertel, Marcel performs as both musician and composer, developing original concert concepts that invite young audiences to engage with music through movement, storytelling and sound. The ensemble’s performances are designed as immersive experiences, helping children to discover music in a direct and intuitive way.
Beyond performing and composing, Marcel is a visual artist and illustrator, designing album covers for other musicians — a natural extension of his creative, detail-driven approach to music and art.
