Selected Discography
Marcel Krömker
Berlin-based double bass player Marcel Krömker has built a diverse and compelling body of recorded work over more than two decades. Each release marks a distinct chapter in an ongoing creative journey, shaped by collaboration and a deep commitment to honest, expressive music.
Over the course of his career, Marcel has appeared on a wide range of recordings, both as a leader and as a sideman. His work spans jazz, contemporary, and improvised music. Because his interests are broad and his experience deep, his discography reflects a wide spectrum of sounds and settings — from intimate recordings to full ensemble productions. Each release carries his signature approach: grounded in tradition, yet open to the unexpected.
As a composer, Marcel brings a strong sense of narrative and structure to his music. His original works balance written form with improvised freedom. This means there is always space for both precision and spontaneity, whether on his own releases or in collaborative projects.
In addition to performing, Marcel is involved in the production and mixing of his recordings. As a result, his releases have a cohesive sonic identity, shaped from the first note to the final mix. This dual role as musician and engineer is what sets his recorded work apart.
His discography also includes recordings with Terz im Viertel, the children’s jazz ensemble he founded. Although these recordings stand apart in spirit and intention, they are equally central to his artistic output — designed to bring jazz to younger audiences through storytelling, melody, and imagination.
